Macalloy Rebrand

Macalloy are global leaders in the manufacture of threaded tension steel bars. Their products are used throughout the construction industry and have been featured in many prestigious global landmarks including four of the Russian World Cup Stadiums, 7-star Burj Al-Arab Hotel in Dubai, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and Jubilee Bridge in London.

Located in the heart of the UK steel industry, Macalloy is privately owned and trades from purpose-built facilities in Dinnington, Sheffield. They supply their international customer base with world-class products including:

  • Tension structures

  • Facade engineering

  • Post-tensioning

  • Ground engineering

  • Site services – equipment, training and hire

Even though they have a history that can be traced back 100 years, they are always looking forward. This is a company that constantly strives to innovate and stay at the forefront of their industry.

Following a strategic review in 2020, they took the decision to update their branding, to ensure that their visual identity was in keeping with their forward-thinking, innovative nature, and to coincide with their centenary year.

They called on the Backroom for support with the rebranding process. They knew they wanted to retain the well-known Macalloy name, but the look and feel of the branding and website needed to be brought up-to-date.

We took on the challenge and presented Macalloy’s senior management team with a number of creative ideas. The whole team moved quickly to develop and sign off their preferred option, with the whole process taking no longer than a couple of weeks!

The new branding retains the familiar, trusted Macalloy blue, and employs a modern, innovative typeface which incorporates subtle elements of their product offering.

The new brand is now being rolled out across the company’s brochures and marketing materials, while the website undergoes a full redesign. We are also providing ongoing marketing support, including content creation and social media management, to make sure they really make a splash on their 100th anniversary year.

Peter Hoy, MD of Macalloy said:

“Whilst our company branding may now look very different, our core values remain the same. We’ve always been committed to providing excellent customer service and high-quality products. I am proud of our teams’ enthusiasm and willingness to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of the construction industry. Our new branding embodies that ethos perfectly.’

We’d love to know what you think of Macalloy’s new look. Get in touch and let us know your thoughts?
